Happy 4th of July to You and Your Dog!

Have a great 4th of July with your pooch, but don’t forget to keep your pets safe.

The noise and excitement during 4th of July celebrations can cause pets to become frantic. Animal shelters across the nation prepare for an influx of 4th of July dogs who run off because of the noise.

Here are some tips from the Human Society to keep your pet safe.

> Resist the urge to take your pet to fireworks displays
> Keep your pet indoors at home in a sheltered, quiet area
> Do not leave your pet in the car
> If you know that your pet is seriously distressed by loud noises like thunder, consult with your veterinarian before July 4th
> Never leave pets outside unattended, even in a fenced yard or on a chain.
> Make sure your pets are wearing identification tags so that if they do become lost, they can be returned promptly.
